Basketball Game Preview: Glendale Vikings vs. Cambria Heights Highlanders

Glendale is 0-7 against Cambria Heights since December of 2014 but things could change on Thursday. The Glendale Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the Cambria Heights Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. Glendale is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.

Glendale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Curwensville by a score of 64-62 on Friday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Levi Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landen McGarvey, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Even though they lost, Glendale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cambria Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Conemaugh Township, falling 66-26. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Indians are ranked 87th).

Cambria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Glendale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-4.

Glendale was dealt a bruising 57-24 defeat at the hands of Cambria Heights when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Glendale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
