Volleyball Recap: Newman Fighting Cardinals vs. Marathon Red Raiders
Newman was the 3-0 winner over Marathon when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Newman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna France, who had four digs and three aces. That's the most aces France has posted since back in October of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Carlson, who had ten digs.
Even though they lost, Newman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marathon only served six.
Katie Leblanc was nothing short of spectacular for Marathon: she had 22 digs and two aces.
Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Marathon, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Newman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory vs. McDonell Central on the 21st. Marathon has also already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Stratford on the 24th.
