Basketball Recap: Hancock Eagles vs. Dyett Eagles
Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Thursday. The Hancock Eagles lost 45-20 to the Dyett Eagles. Hancock lost against Dyett in their previous head to head back in February of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 53-6 score last time.
Dyett was led to victory by Keyanna Sanderson and Rajeh Gardner. Sanderson almost dropped a triple-double with 17 points, ten boards, and nine steals, while Gardner posted 17 points and three steals. Sanderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Fields, who put up two points and three steals.
Hancock has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Dyett, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
Looking ahead, Hancock will challenge Hinsdale South at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hancock's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Hinsdale South's offense will have their work cut out for them. Dyett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
