Preview: Crestview Knights vs. Calvert Senecas
Crestview has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Calvert Senecas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Friday, Crestview suffered a tough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Leipsic. Crestview was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Despite their defeat, Crestview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Braxton Leeth, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Zayden Martin, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Calvert's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 19-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hopewell-Loudon. Having soared to a lofty 41 points in the game before, Calvert couldn't push the score so high this time.
Crestview has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Calvert, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Crestview against Calvert in their previous matchup back in October of 2020 as the squad secured a 50-13 victory. Does Crestview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Calvert turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
