Preview: Midway Raiders vs. Clinton Dark Horses
Midway has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Clinton Dark Horses at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Midway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Last Friday, Midway was able to grind out a solid victory over West Bladen, taking the game 48-40. The win was just what Midway needed coming off of a 55-25 defeat in their prior contest.
Kara Beth Benton was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Peyton Herring was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Clinton posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Red Springs out 36-33. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Clinton was the better team in the second half.
Midway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Clinton's record is now 8-3.
Midway came up short against Clinton when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 40-31. Can Midway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
