Softball Recap: Colleton Prep Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Colleton Prep Academy came into Thursday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders with a sharp 16-1 win on Thursday. The War Hawks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

Elena Mathis and Sydney Stivender made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mathis tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stivender pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At the plate, Mathis scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Stivender scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Colleton Prep Academy got a massive performance out of Ava Murray, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Murray a new career-high. Addison Crosby was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Colleton Prep Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
