Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Vikings vs. Clarksville Wildcats

The Northwest Vikings will take on the Clarksville Wildcats in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northwest comes in on three and Clarksville on seven.

Northwest and Northeast faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. Northwest breezed by Northeast to the tune of 56-17. With the Vikings ahead 30-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clarksville). They blew past West Creek, posting a 66-27 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.

Northwest better keep an eye on Malon Smith. She was instrumental in Clarksville's win, going 9 for 21 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. The game was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shakiah Vance, who posted 15 points and four steals.

The victory got Northwest back to even at 3-3. As for Clarksville, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
