Softball Recap: Milford Has No Trouble Against Grafton

Milford's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Grafton Gators with a sharp 10-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Scarlet Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Avery Macchi was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Stokes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Baglione, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Milford now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will face off against Sharon at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Grafton, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Millbury at 3:30 p.m.
