Softball Recap: Southeastern Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Southeastern had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Appalachian on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansley Spitzer looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kadence Gann was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Hall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Southeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.

The win was the third in a row for Southeastern, bringing their record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Appalachian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southeastern beat the Eagles by a score of 8-2 later that day.
