Baseball Recap: Crete-Monee Comes Up Short

Crete-Monee extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 14-13. They came up short against the Rich Township Raptors, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Raptors this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-9 defeat on Wednesday.

AJ Monegan Jr. was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Crete-Monee is 10-3 when Monegan Jr. posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise.

As for Rich Township, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 26-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Rich Township's side, Jett Roman looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

At the plate, Javoris Bohannon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Fergerson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crete-Monee will square off against Thornridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.47 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rich Township, they will take on Marian Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
