Baseball Recap: Macon County Triumphs

Macon County proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Liberty-Benton Eagles.

Landon Connor looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Woodard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Macon County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayden Dean, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Macon County's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Liberty-Benton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Macon County will take on Portland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty-Benton has already played their next game (against Mount Juliet Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
