Football Preview: Clearwater Tornadoes vs. East Lake Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Clearwater Tornadoes and the East Lake Eagles will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clearwater will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Clearwater is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Tampa Catholic at home to the tune of 48-14 last Friday. Considering the Tornadoes have won three matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Clearwater didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bri'An Key and Kentrail Mcrae.

Meanwhile, East Lake was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap two weeks ago as they fell 36-30 to Steinbrenner.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brian Ford, who rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Jeremiah Cooper also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Clearwater now has a winning record of 4-3. As for East Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Clearwater beat East Lake 22-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clearwater since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
