Football Game Preview: Hagerman Pirates vs. Raft River Trojans

The Hagerman Pirates will take on the Raft River Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hagerman's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.

Hagerman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Butte County, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Hagerman was ranked fourth). Hagerman put the hurt on Butte County with a sharp 38-18 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for Hagerman, who have now won six games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Hagerman found their leader in sophomore Casen Knight, who rushed for 122 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries. Knight has become a key player for Hagerman: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Cameron Clausse, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Raft River unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 42-26 bruising from Valley.

Hagerman will need to focus on slowing down McCoy Spencer, one of several Raft River players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 106 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 64 yards and three touchdowns. James Dalton was another key player, picking up 43 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Hagerman's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Raft River, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Everything went Hagerman's way against Raft River when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Hagerman made off with a 50-26 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
