Basketball Game Preview: Ballston Spa Scotties vs. Columbia Blue Devils

Ballston Spa hasn't had much luck against Columbia recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ballston Spa Scotties will head out to take on the Columbia Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Ballston Spa is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Guilderland on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ballston Spa came up short against Guilderland, falling 61-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Scotties have suffered against the Flying Dutchmen since December 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, Columbia faced Shaker in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Columbia fell 63-55 to Shaker. It was the first time this season that the Blue Devils let down their fans at home.

This is the second loss in a row for Ballston Spa and nudges their season record down to 10-8. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

Ballston Spa lost to Columbia on the road by a decisive 63-46 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Ballston Spa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
