The Canajoharie Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Duanesburg Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Canajoharie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Canajoharie will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Stillwater on Friday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-8 win. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Nicholas Barlow, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Aiden Bowerman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Canajoharie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Duanesburg didn't have quite enough to beat Granville on Saturday and fell 5-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Duanesburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Lussier, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That run was Lussier's first of the season.

Duanesburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Canajoharie, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Canajoharie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Duanesburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Canajoharie beat Duanesburg 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
