Basketball Recap: La Plata Takes a Loss

La Plata lost against Lackey back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The La Plata Warriors fell 55-46 to the Lackey Chargers. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, La Plata saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Karon Allen posted 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Allen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Makai Fitch was another key player, putting up six points.

Lackey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyzon Swann out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Malik Gordon, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six steals.

La Plata's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Lackey, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

La Plata will head out to face off against North Point at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Point has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lackey, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. Lackey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
