It's playoff time, and Stillwater had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Granville Golden Horde 16-8 on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Eden Resch was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Resch was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Stillwater let Katie Coogan and Sofia Perniciaro run wild. Coogan went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Perniciaro got on base in four of her six plate appearances with five runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Perniciaro has posted since back in April. Eva Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Stillwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Granville only posted an OBP of .333.
Stillwater is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Granville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Coming up, Stillwater will take on Galway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Granville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
