Hobbs and Lovington are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Hobbs Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lovington Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hobbs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Lovington will be up against a hot Hobbs team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Hobbs came out on top against Los Lunas by a score of 5-2 on Saturday.

Ailea Trevizo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Edyth Chavez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jaquelynn Fuentez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Lovington was able to grind out a solid win over Roswell on Tuesday, taking the game 11-6. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Coyotes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hobbs' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lovington, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Hobbs came out on top in a nail-biter against Lovington in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will Hobbs repeat their success, or does Lovington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
