Basketball Recap: First Baptist Skates Past Austin Classical with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask First Baptist). They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-15 win over the Austin Classical Mustangs. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

First Baptist got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Jacobo-Redding out in front who posted 16 points and eight steals. Jacobo-Redding is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Jane Jones, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

First Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for First Baptist and bumps their season record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 27 points in those games. As for Austin Classical, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coincidentally, First Baptist and Austin Classical will both be playing Bracken Christian the next time they take the court. The Saints will head out to face the Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
