Football Recap: Lakeway Christian Academy Falls to Pope John Paul II in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Lakeway Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pope John Paul II Knights on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

A big part of Pope John Paul II's win came down to the chemistry between Isaiah Batten and his top target Sam Bowers. Batten threw for 229 yards and four TDs while Bowers gained 109 total yards and four touchdowns. Pope John Paul II also got a significant boost from Marcus Cantrell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 133 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeway Christian Academy is headed away from home for the first time to take on Asheville Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pope John Paul II, they will head out to square off against East Robertson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
