Basketball Game Preview: Mill Valley Jaguars vs. Shawnee Mission East Lancers

The Mill Valley Jaguars will head out to take on the Shawnee Mission East Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Mill Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kansas' top teams: Olathe Northwest, who was ranked 16th at the time (Mill Valley was ranked seventh). Mill Valley fell to Olathe Northwest 58-53.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East came up short against Olathe East on Tuesday and fell 63-52. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shawnee Mission East's loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Mill Valley, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 11-3.

Mill Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Shawnee Mission East in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 64-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mill Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
