Soccer Game Preview: Kenai Central vs. Monroe Catholic

The Kenai Central Kardinals will face off against the Monroe Catholic Rams at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Kenai Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Palmer, who was ranked eighth at the time (Kenai Central was ranked 14th). The Kardinals fell just short of the Moose by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Kenai Central couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Monroe Catholic waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Huskies get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. It was an even better day for Jett McCoullgh as he scored four goals for his team.

Monroe Catholic used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Redington. And. James Benbow made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

This is the second loss in a row for Kenai Central and nudges their season record down to 9-6-2. As for Monroe Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-1-1.
