Basketball Recap: Sparks Railroaders vs. Mineral County Serpents
Sparks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Mineral County Serpents, falling 70-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Railroaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-38 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Sparks lost, don't look at Eli Flores. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points. With that strong performance, Flores is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Ayden Owens was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 11 points.
Mineral County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Wilson, who posted 21 points along with six assists and five steals. Those six assists gave Wilson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaeden Majano, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.
Sparks' loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Mineral County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5.
Sparks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-33 defeat against Pyramid Lake on the 28th. As for Mineral County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-50 loss against Hug on the 28th.
