Baseball Game Preview: Fort Myers Green Wave vs. Mariner Tritons

The Fort Myers Green Wave will head out to face off against the Mariner Tritons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fort Myers will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Fort Myers made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Island Coast, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Fort Myers' way against Island Coast on Wednesday as Fort Myers made off with a 9-2 win.

Ayden Allan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Bryce Ware was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Ashton Mora was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mariner suffered their closest defeat since April 11, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of South Fort Myers by a score of 7-5.

Colin Raftery made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Morgan Waltz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Fort Myers pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mariner, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Fort Myers took their win against Mariner in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Myers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
