Basketball Recap: Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls vs. Lovington Wildcats

Carlsbad has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lovington Wildcats. The Cavemen/Cavegirls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Ashelynn Borunda was her usual excellent self, going 9 for 21 on her way to 21 points for Lovington. The contest was Borunda's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Abigail Shouse was another key player, putting up five points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
