Volleyball Recap: Hackett Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Farmington

Hackett faced Farmington in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Hornets took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. That makes it the first time this season the Hornets have let down their home crowd.

Hackett was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by exactly two points. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 29-27.

Michaelyn Freeman paced Hackett's offense, picking up 14 kills. Freeman got some help from Catelyn Edwards and her 20 assists. Freeman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Hackett's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Farmington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-1 record this season.

Hackett wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Harrison on the 15th. As for Farmington, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Van Buren on the 13th.
