Softball Game Preview: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. Tesoro Titans

The Mission Viejo Diablos will head out on the road to square off against the Tesoro Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Mission Viejo nor Tesoro posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Thursday, Mission Viejo came up short against Aliso Niguel and fell 4-1. The Diablos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Tesoro and Aliso Niguel meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Titans fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 3-2.

Loula McNamara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tesoro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dace Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Mission Viejo's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Tesoro, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Mission Viejo couldn't quite finish off Tesoro in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Diablos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
