League recap: Sumner extends winning streak with victory over Fife

Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A South Puget Sound this week, Sumner beat Fife 37-31. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Orting's Eddie Prong and Daniel Bessey have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Prong has thrown for 815 yards this season, while Bessey has 18 catches for 368 yards. Keenan Fagan from White River leads the league in rushing with 717 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sumner takes on second place White River. Last week, Sumner bested the Trojans, while the Hornets lost to Steilacoom.

The league will see a high scoring game when Fife and the Cardinals face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Kent Nevin's team comes in having scored 193 this season, while Orting has scored 221. The Trojans scored 31 points last week as they lost to Keith Ross' team.

The Sentinels made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,443 from 7,227. The improvement was the result of a 34-33 victory over White River last week.
