Softball Recap: West Milford Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but West Milford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Emerson Cavaliers 5-3.

Emma Gibson was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lydia Paget, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: West Milford lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

West Milford now has a winning record of 16-15. As for Emerson, they moved to 13-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. West Milford will take on NV - Demarest on Tuesday. The Norsemen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Highlanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Emerson, they will challenge North Warren Regional on Tuesday.
