Basketball Recap: Bishop Union Comes Up Short

Bishop Union has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the California City Ravens on Friday. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ravens earlier this season, when they won 50-47.

California City was led to victory by Avery 'Skywalker' Spears and Cassius 'Hollywood' Brown. Spears almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds, while Brown went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and four steals. That's the most points Spears has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Celeb Dunlap, who scored nine points.

Bishop Union's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for California City, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Union will challenge Boron at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for California City, they will square off against Kern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. California City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.8 points per game this season.
