Notre Dame Academy extends home winning streak to seven

Recap: Notre Dame Academy Gators vs. Kennedy Catholic Gaels

The Notre Dame Academy Gators entered their tilt with the Kennedy Catholic Gaels with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Notre Dame Academy enjoyed a cozy 61-46 victory over Kennedy Catholic on Tuesday. Given Notre Dame Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Kennedy Catholic is ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Notre Dame Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sabrina Kraker, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Kraker is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kiersten Mills was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.

Notre Dame Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Kennedy Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.

Notre Dame Academy will be playing at home against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge Paramus Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Paramus Catholic has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
