Basketball Game Preview: Leavitt Hornets vs. Maine Central Institute Huskies

The Leavitt Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Maine Central Institute Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leavitt is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

While Leavitt didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Cape Elizabeth by a score of 42-32 on Friday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leavitt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordyn Boulay, who posted 16 points. Boulay is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Smith, who put up ten points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Leavitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Maine Central Institute hadn't done well against Maranacook recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Maine Central Institute snuck past Maranacook with a 37-32 victory.

Leavitt's record now sits at 4-1. As for Maine Central Institute, their record is now 3-5.

Leavitt might still be hurting after the 57-35 defeat they got from Maine Central Institute in their previous matchup back in February. Can Leavitt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
