Baseball Recap: Passaic Valley Comes Up Short

Passaic Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 7-9-1. They came up short against the Ridgefield Park Scarlets, falling 10-0. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scarlets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Ridgefield Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

For Ridgefield Park's part, Ryan Fowler tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Fowler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Maldonado and Emmanuel Paula Ruiz did most of the damage at the plate: Maldonado went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Ruiz went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Ruiz has posted over his last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Dominic DelValle, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Passaic Valley will square off against Kennedy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ridgefield Park, they will face off against Lyndhurst at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Scarlets will need to watch out since the Golden Bears have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
