Football Preview: Franklin Cougars vs. Montwood Rams
Franklin has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will host the Montwood Rams at 7:30 p.m. Franklin will be strutting in after a win while Montwood will be coming in after a loss.
Franklin will head into Thursday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 34) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Coronado , sneaking past 16-13.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ernie Powers, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown. Santiago Perez did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 116 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Montwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell to Eastlake 36-32. One positive for the Rams, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Franklin now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Montwood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Franklin came up short against Montwood in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 41-35. Thankfully for Franklin, Michael Southern (who threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt) won't be suiting up this time.
