Recap: Franklin Lions vs. Westwood Panthers

The Franklin Lions fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Westwood Panthers on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 85-83. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (66), Franklin still had to take the loss.

Westwood found their leader in underclassman Kavian Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. Bryant has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Carter, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Franklin has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Westwood, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-5.

Franklin will be playing at home against Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mexia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Westwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Teague at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Teague will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1010th, while Westwood is ranked 308th).
