Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Independence/Gilmanton

Independence/Gilmanton had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Osseo-Fairchild on Thursday. The Indees were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Thunder. The Indees not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 22, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 28-26, 30-28.

Hannah Ekern paced Independence/Gilmanton's offense, picking up nine kills. Ekern really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 16. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Harper Symicek, each putting up four.

The win was the third in a row for Independence/Gilmanton, bringing their record up to 5-9. As for Osseo-Fairchild, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Independence/Gilmanton has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Mauston on the 11th. As for Osseo-Fairchild, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Melrose-Mindoro on the 11th.
