Basketball Recap: Providence Day Comes Up Short

Providence Day lost against Wesleyan Christian Academy back in November of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Providence Day Chargers received a blow as they fell 66-52 to the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans. The Chargers were down 52-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Providence Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ginny Anne Dumont posted 22 points along with eight boards and five assists. Dumont has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Katelyn Ramsden was another key player, going 5-for-8 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Wesleyan Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Cooper Cox, who had 17 points. Another player making a difference was Sara Kate Carr, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 12 points.

Providence Day's loss dropped their record down to 25-8. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-6 record this season.

Providence Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they will take on Cannon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cannon comes in on three and Wesleyan Christian Academy on eight.
