Volleyball Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the St. Thomas More Cougars, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since October 8th.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: St. Thomas More scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

St. Thomas More can attribute much of their success to Clare Thomson, who had 19 assists and 12 digs. That's the most digs Thomson has posted over her last 13 matchups.

Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for St. Thomas More, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 30-5.

Notre Dame and St. Thomas More should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Pioneers will challenge St. Martinville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (35 vs. 93). Meanwhile, St. Thomas More (ranked fifth) will meet Beau Chene (ranked 88th) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
