Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Sierra Grande

Sierra Grande had won four straight home games dating back to last season and Aron Ojeda did his part to make it five on Tuesday. The Sierra Grande Panthers walked away with a 70-59 victory over the Kim/Branson Mustangs thanks in part to Ojeda, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Jadyn Martinez, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Martinez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Kim/Branson still got an impressive performance from Kolter Cranson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Cranson is becoming a predictor of Kim/Branson's success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 6-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Will Doherty was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Sierra Grande's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Kim/Branson, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Sierra Grande will take on Moffat at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Grande is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. As for Kim/Branson, they are taking a road trip to take on Walsh at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Kim/Branson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.7 points per game.
