Softball Recap: Alexandria Falls Short Against Ranked Chelsea

Alexandria faced Chelsea in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Valley Cubs took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The Valley Cubs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 8-3.

Charlee Parris was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenlee Sparks, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Alexandria is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 26-8-2. As for Chelsea, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-11-1 record this season.

Alexandria didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-1 victory against Auburn on the 12th. As for Chelsea, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against Helena on the 15th.
