Softball Game Preview: Harbor Pirates vs. Aptos Mariners

Harbor hasn't had much luck against Aptos recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Harbor will venture away from home to square off against Aptos at 4:30 p.m. Harbor has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harbor is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 16-2 to San Lorenzo Valley. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Harbor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hana Pomrantz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Those hits marked the first that Pomrantz got this season.

Meanwhile, Aptos made easy work of North Monterey County on Friday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Mariners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Aptos has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Harbor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Harbor might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Aptos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Harbor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
