St. Paul's Girls wouldn't go down easily and took Mercy into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 22-25, 15-9.
McDonogh better focus on containing Gloria Son and Jasmin Tucker as the pair were huge in St. Paul's Girls' win. Son had 14 digs and two aces, while Tucker had 19 kills, 17 digs, and seven aces. Tucker has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more kills the last 17 times she's played.
St. Paul's Girls was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.
St. Paul's Girls' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for McDonogh, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
