Basketball Recap: Sunnyside Takes a Loss

Sunnyside was the 78-72 winner over Ironwood Ridge when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sunnyside Blue Devils fell 66-54 to the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ironwood Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Brown, who posted 24 points. The match was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyler Holthaus, who had 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Sunnyside's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Ironwood Ridge, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will square off against Vista Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ironwood Ridge, they will take on Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ironwood Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season.
