Softball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Muscle Shoals on Saturday, Hamilton came back down to earth. The Hamilton Aggies fell just short of the Mars Hill Bible Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Aggies' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Molly Sandlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Hamilton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Stringer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Hamilton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Mars Hill Bible, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will head out to challenge Winfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Winfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mars Hill Bible, they will face off against Rogers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
