Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Takes a Loss

Lawrence County started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against St. Andrew's Episcopal. They fell just short of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints by a score of 11-10 on Monday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caden Case was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Case was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Hunter Turner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JaKobe Haynes, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Lawrence County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Lawrence County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will face off against Tylertown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they will challenge Canton Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
