Softball Game Preview: Goodhue Wildcats vs. Houston Hurricanes

The Goodhue Wildcats will face off against the Houston Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Goodhue is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Goodhue fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Lake City on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Emma Voth spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Goodhue got a big performance out of Lola Christianson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Rehder, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Houston faced Grand Meadow/Kingsland/LeRoy-Ostrander in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Superlarks by a score of 10-9. The Hurricanes' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Houston's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Goodhue, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
