Baseball Recap: Blaine Takes a Loss

Blaine has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.84 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 15-2 to the Mount Vernon Bulldogs. The Borderites have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Blaine's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mount Vernon, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Blaine is set to square off against their familiar foe Anacortes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Borderites 3.8, the Seahawks 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon will challenge rival Sedro-Woolley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in the Bulldogs' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Cubs have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
