Basketball Recap: Lynchburg-Clay Drops Season-High Score on Manchester

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lynchburg-Clay). They put the hurt on the Manchester Greyhounds with a sharp 54-32 victory on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted since February 1, 2024.

Lynchburg-Clay's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joslyn Rockey, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Rockey a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Waits, who had 11 points.

Lynchburg-Clay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Lynchburg-Clay's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Manchester, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Lynchburg-Clay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-36 victory against Clinton-Massie on the 11th. As for Manchester, they will challenge Fayetteville-Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fayetteville-Perry will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Manchester surely won't give up without a fight.
