Softball Recap: Breaux Bridge Comes Up Short

Breaux Bridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Eunice Bobcats, falling 17-3. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in February of 2025.

Hailey D was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence G, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Eunice's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

On Eunice's side, Madelyn Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eva Sattler, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sydni Miller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Breaux Bridge will welcome St. Martinville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Eunice, they will host Iota at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
