Softball Recap: Pope County Comes Up Short

Pope County came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Harrisburg Bulldogs by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Wednesday.

Kacie Fritch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Pope County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Fasolo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Pope County and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Harrisburg, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Coincidentally, Pope County and Harrisburg will both be playing Gallatin County the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Pirates will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
